Awareness is everything.  How often do you ask yourself the exasperating question: “How did I get back here again?” – meaning that you have found yourself repeating old patterns of self-defeating behavior that simultaneously frustrate and baffle you.  Raising your awareness of these patterns can help free you from re-engaging in them.  This is no easy task – it takes patience and a willingness to explore parts of you that want to remain hidden.  Therapy can mean pushing yourself into adulthood and taking responsibility for your own life and the person you want to be in the world.
